As the campaign to settle the land of Canaan ended, Joshua gave his final speech to the children of Israel. He said, "You know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one word of them has failed" (Joshua 23:14, 15). Everything God had promised, happened. Nothing failed.
It is reassuring to know that God's promises will be fulfilled. Since God does not lie, we can claim His promises with complete confidence. Just before returning to heaven, Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also" (John 14:1-3). This is a personal promise that Christians can hold with every confidence. Anticipating it makes life worth living and puts a song in our hearts! Jesus is coming to take us home!
