God's ultimate goal for this planet in rebellion is beyond our comprehension. Whatever you imagine heaven to be like, the reality is more magnificent, more beautiful, more glorious.
John writes in Revelation 21, "The city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: the first foundation was jasper; the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, the fourth emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprase, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst. The twelve gates were twelve pearls. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass." And Jesus will lead the redeemed to the gates of the golden city, and with His own nail-scarred hand, will lay hold of the gate, swing it back on its glittering hinges, and bid us enter in. O, matchless love!
