Stage, radio and television personality, entertainer, gospel music singer, voice coach, choral conductor, lyric tenor and linguist, Manuel Escorcio does it all. He was born in the former colony of Mozambique, moved to South Africa when he was 16 and graduated from Helderberg high school in Somerset West. He has a degree in theology, a Baccalaureate of Music from Stellenbosch University and a Master of Music from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
His operatic career, as the principal Lyric Tenor for the Cape Town City Opera, spanned over 12 years in which he performed a variety of roles in 40 major opera, operetta and musical productions.
His career spans over 4,000 concerts in many parts of the world including the continental United States, Alaska, Canada, the Philippines, Venezuela, Brazil, Europe, Australia, Portugal and South Africa. Manuel has recorded 30 CDs of different genres of music from light classics, romantic ballads in English, Portuguese, Spanish and Afrikaans, to gospel music ranging from traditional hymns to more contemporary gospel.
Manuel has won 3 gold and one platinum discs and every major award in South Africa including the Opera Prize, best male vocalist, and best Gospel CD production. He also won the radio award for best classical music radio broadcast and several times has been crowned the most popular artist in South Africa.
